For How Long Should One Take Fibator For Cholesterol?

Hi Doctor, My name is Shashank. I had my blood test done recently with hi cholesterol levels. Following are the levels. Cholesterol - 243 Triglycerides - 279 HDL - 40 LDL - 147 Chol / HDL Ratio - 6.1 LDL / HDL Ratio - 3.7 My doctor suggested me Fibator 10-145, but did not mention for how much time. My question is how long will i have to consume these tablets? I also have high sugar levels with 130 / 260 Fasting and PP. I have been advised MELMET - 500 SR. Kindly Advise how long i will have to take this medicine also?.

ideally these medications needs to be continued lifelong. Mentioned medicine contain two contents one 10and other is145. You can discontinue 145 mg content and continue 10 mg content after 2 months. even if cholesterol is normal we advise to continue atorvastatin 10 mg lifelong because of its cardio protective effect.
However if one has got no other problems like Diabetes and diet is modified sufficiently then can be stopped after cholesterol is under control.
However my suggestion is continue atorvastatin 10 mg lifelong even after cholesterol normalizes.
repeat lipid profile after 2 months. low fat oily sugar diet. regular exercises
