Forgetting To Remove Contact Lens. Eyes Hurts And Waters When Blinking Or Shut. Recommendations?
My eye hurts when I blink or keep it shut for a while, it is also watering, and it is sensitive to light. I do wear contacts normally I do good in taking them off before going to sleep but last night I fell asleep before I had the chance to take them off. I woke up on the middle of the night and took them off, but now I have this symptoms. What could it be? And do you have any recommendations?
Hi Friend I am Dr Bilal and I am an Ophthalmologist . Welcome to Health Care Magic and thanks for writing to us . I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .
From the history given by you , its obvious that your problem is because of wearing contact lenses while asleep . Wearing contacts while sleeping blocks the oxygen supply to cornea which is dependent on atmospheric oxygen . Contact lenses while sleeping can cause ulceration / sore on the cornea , clouding and swelling of cornea , keratitis . I would suggest you to visit your eye doctor as may require antibiotics . Meanwhile , do not wear your contacts ( use glasses ) , use sun glasses while moving out in bright light , use lubricating eye drops every 04 hourly and take some pain killer tablet like Ibuprofen . I hope that you will find my answer helpful . Wish you a very speedy recovery . Good luck . Best regards .
