Foul Smelling Thick Brownish Vaginal Discharge. Had A Hysterectomy In The Past Due To Precancerous Cells. Worried
I had a hysterectomy over ten years ago. I am having foul thick brown discharge. I haven't had sex for a year so I don't know if it's still painful, but was last time. I had the hysterectomy because I had precancerous cells. At one point, there was about 2 large table spoons of thick clear mucus, then it turned brown. Really worried.
Foul smelling brown discharge with a previous history of hysterectomy for a pre-cancerous lesion is suggestive of infection or recurrence of malignant lesion. There can be a recurrence of malignancy in the vaginal vault years after hysterectomy done for malignancy. a vaginal smear needs to be done to look for malignant cells. The other possibility is that of infection. This infection has to be treated with antibiotics. You need to consult a gynecologist for the investigation.
