Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
There are a few conditions that require explaining as per your presentation.
Firstly, almost every individual undergoing a certain surgery with the use of a certain type of
anesthesia will require a catheter, as the anesthesia used
paralyses the reflex that helps in determining a full bladder, and correspondingly the emptying. This is escaped with the help of a catheter, thus this is completely normal in all individuals.
Next,
flomax is recommended in individuals with an
enlarged prostate. Enlargement of the prostate is usually an age-related process (normal), and is thus seen in males above the age of 40-50. Please request further investigation to the cause of an enlarged prostate in your case, as you are only 23 years old. Serum PSA should also be conducted.
Finally coming to your urinary symptoms, these could be caused due to an enlarged prostate, which puts pressure on the bladder and increases the urge to urinate, and gives out a feeling of a full bladder. But, to rule out an infection, a urine analysis would be necessary, if inconclusive, a urine culture should help.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
