Getting Sore Throat After Coming Down From Higher Altitude. Looking For Suggestion

Whenever I go to the mountains for skiing (over 2000 meters) and come back to a lower altitude (close to sea level) I seem to get a sore throat right near my tonsils on my right side. It lasts for 4-5 days and goes away. Is the pain related to the elevation change, the change in temperature, and is there anything I can do to have it not happen again and again?

hello bjwillis..
what ur problem is a common one called as a mountain sickness or altitud sickness..
as there is pressure changes in the environment when we travel from higher to lower altitudes and there is decreased oxygen tension in the climate when we go higher altitude of 2000mtrs and above.. we get the problem of eustachian tube block in the ear which leads to sore throat commonly..in order to avoid this we need to take more breathing at higher altitudes.
ther is a way to avoid this by taking diamox tablets prior to going higher altitudes or we need to atleast take chewing gums and keep chewing them inorder to keep the eustachian tube open..
so dont worry and take the precautions .. have good health ..
