Given Painkillers For Red And Swollen Calf With Pain After Rupturing Of Bakers Cyst

I have a bakers cyst i think it has ruptured and the back of my calf is red and swollen im in so much pain i went to the emergency room and they give me pain killers and tell me to see my doctor i am waiting on my insurance from work to kick in but in dire need of answers

Hi there.
Such an intense and sudden pain in calf is unlikely to be due to rupture of the cyst.
This is more likely due to
1) DVT i. e. Deep vein thrombosis of the calf veins.
2) muscle spasm
Kindly get a venous doppler study of the leg done.
If at all the bakers cyst has ruptured then the previous swelling due to the cyst should decrease considerably in size to cause such intense symptoms.
Tablets diclofenac and tramodol in doses advised by your local doctor will help for the time being.
