Got Stitches On Lip Due To Accident, Swollen Lips. Is This Normal?
Hi doctor. I am concerned about one thing and need medical advise. I got 16 stitches on my lip inside and outside about 3 weeks ago. The stitches healed up about 1 week after the accident. But now my lip is still swollen and it looks like its gotten even more swollen. Is this normal when it comes to lip healing after stitches or should I take action ? Hope to hear a response I'd highly appreciate it
Hi Lips are the places where edema(swelling) subsides gradually. If there is pain/tenderness then you should worry or else it will subside on its own. Even with tenderness if there is no redness or signs of infection it will subside but will take time. You can use medicine like chymotripsin or trypsin tablets which help to dissolve the swelling. If there is infection then a proper antibiotic should be taken. Please consult a General practitioner for an examination if it has healed or not. Even with a lot of disfigurement face has the ability to get it self right. So i would suggest not to worry much be vigilent. hope you find my suggestion useful. Any further quarries are welcome. Thanking you Dr Samir
