Grainy Stools, Nausea, Light Headedness, Stomach Cramps. Taking Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin C. Cure?

Hi, I ve noticed that my stools have become grainy and shaped into small balls in the last day and a half. I have light nausea and lightheadedness and right now a tiny bit of stomach cramping like trapped gas. I also might be pregnant but I m not sure. My bowels are usually normal. I eat a healthy vegan diet with lots of fruits and vegetables-absolutely no junk food, chemicsls, or proccessed food. I also take a Buffered Vitamin C powder at night that has calcium carbonate , magnesium carbonate, and potassium carbonate (4.7g.) I don t know if I should be concerned or do a coffee enema to clean me out.

Hi,

First of all, get the pregnancy test done to confirm whether you are pregnant or not and whether you are continuing as the decision depends upon our decision.
If pregnancy test is negative then you can go ahead with further tests:
X-ray of abdomen to see for any fecoliths or intestinal gases or fecoliths.
Tests of stool and blood.
This will allow the proper diagnosis so that a proper management can be done as per the findings. You can then take a stool softener and laxative without fear.
If fecoliths are present then you may need an enema.
It is great to know that you are taking safe diet and fruits, continue the same and just add more fibers or take Isabgoal husk with plenty of fluids to have soft stools.
You can symptomatic treatment for the nausea in the form o fa PPI like Omeprazole and Domperidone.
Continue Vitamin C and all the things as you have already been taking.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
