Habit Of Holding Breath Without Realizing, Tingling Arms, Legs And Body. Is It Serious?

Lately I ve been holding my breath a lot. For no reason really, I m not really sure how it started I think it could be stress related but I m not 100% sure. I sometimes catch myself holding my breath with out even realizing it. I want to know if this could be affecting my health in any way at all. I haven t passed out but sometimes my arms legs and pretty much my whole body tingles. I just want to know if this could be something serious at all.

Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
After going through your details, you should understand breathing when we hold breathing then Co2 that is carbon dioxide level rises in blood, at one stage when you start breathing normally there will be hyperventilation to wash out excess of carbon dioxide.

In hyperventilation on can get tingling feeling because of changes in calcium levels.

There is no harm in it but this is what is done in Pranayam which should be done under supervision of trainer.

One can practice and can hold breath for relatively long periods to an extent.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

wish you good health
Take care.
Good Luck.
