Hello Dr. Samuel,
I had an HSG procedure done back in Oct of 2013 around the 10th or 12th day of my cycle. I apologize but I do not
remember the exact date. The whole thing was more painful than I had expected and sometime during the procedure I felt a sharp pain coming from inside my body (it was as though the doctor was pinching my uterus). To make a long story short, the doctor inserted the iodone liquid inside of me and after a few minutes read the results out loud. According to my doctor, everything seemed fine.
The next week I got my menstrual cycle. However, what was different about this time is that I was vomiting during the first day of the cycle and bled dark blood (not red) for 2.5 days. I found this to be strange because my cycle usually lasts for 5 full days.
This month I am late by three days and I do not feel any of the usual signs. I am afraid that I am not ovulating or that the HSG procedure may have injured my uterus. Could this be a sign of something serious? Should I go in for an ultrasound?
Thank you!
