Had A Brain Surgery To Put Clip On A Ruptured Nerve Due To High BP. Taking Eption. Side Effects?

Hi,
My mom , 46 ayears, had a brain surgery on April- 07-2012 on her right froe brain.
A ruptured nerve was put a clip. As per doctores this rupture was due to High Bp,. Since the surgery she is taking eption tablets. i heard ill effects of it and got suggestion from friend to stop tablets. Please suggest what need to be done and what are the ill effects of this tables. She still has Bp.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
Your mother is Hypertensive and suffered stroke due rupture of blood vessel which was successfully clipped.
It was due to high blood pressure hence keep her blood pressure in desirable level strictly.Please continue medicines for blood pressure regularly.
Eptoin is given to control seizure which are quite possible in such cases so it is given prophylactically .
Please do not stop it on friend's advice please consult your Neurologist who is best person to decide what is best for her, Eptoin has certain side effects drug-induced gingival enlargement, megaloblastic anemia,Hypertrichosis, rash, exfoliative dermatitis, pruritus, hirsutism.
If by any reason your neurologist decide to switch anticonvulsant there are many alternatives.
