Had A Hysterectomy, Now Told To Have Rectocele And Vault Prolapse. Wearing Ring Pessary, Get Infections And Soreness. Opinions ?
I have had a hysterectomy, but have been told that i now have a rectocele and vault prolapse, i have been offered a sacrocolpopexy operation to lift the vagina and a synthetic mesh is used . At present i am wearing a ring pessary but occassionaly get infections and soreness from this, also some bleeding and spotting when it is removed. I am 52. I would value your opinion on the advantages and success rate of this operation.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Vault prolapse ans rectocele needs to be treated. Sacrocolpopexy is a better one to get it done, it basically strengthens pelvic floor muscles. You can also try pelvic floor strengthening exercises.
Consult your doctor for examination and management. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Vidya
