Had Brain Stroke. Difficulty In Walking, Leg Freezes. Hip, Leg Hurts. Help?
hi my name is sandy. I had a stroke 2 years ago. I can walk however I have difficulty in walking normally. my right leg freezies up when I walk. and I pick my leg up when I walk. and my hip and leg hurts. so I have to stop for a minute. my right leg don't walk the same as my left leg. I had a brain stroke on my left side.
Your symptoms are related to the stroke on the left side. Left side of brain controls the right half of body, and the residual weakness and stiffness are related to that.
Most likely, you also have spasticity, which is making your leg stiff and making you drag it while walking.
Physiotherapy with regular exercises would help a lot in improving this. In addition, medications such as baclofen would help reduce spasticity. If these do not work, you may benefit with Botox injection therapy.
Please discuss these issues with your doctor.
I hope it helps. Best wishes, Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology) Senior Consultant Neurologist
