Had Cardio Oblation. Cannot Open Mouth Wide. Clicking In Jaw. Advice?
I had a cardio oblation 6 days ago. I noticed in recovery that my mouth couldn't open very wide and put it down to an odd angle my head might have been in during the 3 hour procedure. I still can't open my mouth very wide and there is pressure and clicking in my left jaw. Is there a link between cardio oblation and jaw problems. Thank you.
Hi thanks for posting your query on Healthcare Magic. I think you mean to say cardiac ablation. Click during jaw movement and abnormal position at rest suggest there is possibility of jaw dislocation. You did not mentioned for what cardiac ablation was done anyway. There is no direct connection between cardiac ablation and jaw problem but if it occurred after procedure then this could be related to positioning during procedure. Has this procedure was done under complete general anesthesia with endotracheal tube. If yes then may be related to anesthesia technique. To understand this problem you should visit doctor preferably ENT specialist. He/She will examine you and rule out jaw dislocation. if present can be treated by re positioning. I hope my advice may be helpful for you. Take care
