Hello doctor I had breast cancer 3years ago and the lymph nodes under my right arm were removed.I had chemo and radiation.now in my latest blood test my tsh is 11 but my t4 is 9 which is normal.I was prescribed levothyroxin and now I feel my hands have started to swell.I never experienced lymphedema in the last 3 years.could it be a side effect of levothyroxin? do I need to take it when my t4 is normal? thanks in advance
hello there! Swollen hands can be due the effect of hypothyroidism for which you are prescribed with levothyroxin. You need to continuously take it. And Stay in touch with your endocrinologist. Its a balance to you have to maintain, If you superseed you will feel symptoms or hyper and if you dont you will be hypo. SO This game of hormones need to be played well and continuously.
Get back to medications and see endocrinologist.
hope it goes back But remember it neither occurs in a day nor it goes in a day. It Will take some time
keep having your follow ups for breat cancer to avoid recurrences
Take care S Khan
