Had Exposure To Scabies. Treated With Ivermectin. Noticed New Bites. Normal? Aggressive Treatment?
I had a crusted (norwegian) scabies exposure at work (I am a nurse) and have been treat with Ivermectin 15mg (I weigh 89kg) and one treatment of topical premethrin cream 5%. They want me to repeat the dose of ivermectin in one week. I am still seeing new "bites" as of today and I was treated on Wednesday. Is this normal or should I be on a more aggressive treatment plan?
Ivermectin should be repeated only after 15 days. You can apply topical ivermectin.
It is important to kill the insects. Use a insect repellant.
Please meet a dermatologist for final diagnosis and treatment

Had Exposure To Scabies. Treated With Ivermectin. Noticed New Bites. Normal? Aggressive Treatment?
Hi, Thanks for writing here. Ivermectin needs to be repeated after one week.Otherwise it would not be so useful. New bites are due to post scabitic pruritus. It is due to sensitivity of body to itch mite. It will continue for some weeks. You can take oral antihistaminics and apply a steroid antibiotic combination over affected area. You need not to be worry much.Take care.
