Hi. Welcome to HCM. Please mention your age and sex next time when u ask a health related question. Boniva is a drug that is used for treating
osteoporosis (contains ibandronate). After
menopause (in females once their menses stops), there is an increased rate of bone loss leading to osteoporosis, and ibandronate has been shown to increase
bone density and decrease fractures of bones. Tablets should be taken at least 60 minutes before the first food or drink of the day (other than plain water) or before other oral medication, because food or medications may interfere in its absorption. What u are experiencing are its common side effects (more common side effects of ibandronate include headache, mild flu like symptoms, back pain, pain in the legs or arms,
abdominal pain, nausea,
stomach upset, diarrhea). Severe irritation of the
esophagus (food pipe) can occur. The
chest tightness u r having could be due to this. U have not mentioned if u r taking any other medications with this drug. Please drink enough water with ibandronate, wait less than 60 minutes before lying down after taking this drug. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Specifically if u have this chest tightness or difficulty in swallowing go and consult ur doctor as early as possible. have a good day. Wish u good health
