Had Laser Surgeries For Big Tear In Right Eye, Poor Blurred Vision, No Improvement. Reason?

Hello Doctor I had 3 laser surgeries for a big tear in my right eye in a span of one week,(3 different specialist , who thought the previous one didn t do enough job) although I have 20/20 vision after the surgeries, the quality of vision is very poor, I have blurred vision with huge grey clouds moving , which are leaving me off balance,it s like trying to see through a muddy water, there s only the left side of my eye that is clear from the mud and has great vision, my doctor says the retina is recovering very good and the eye needs time to settle, yet it has been 3 weeks and no improvement so far, my question is why is this hazy vision?

Hello there. The results of retinopexy (laser to retinal tear) are generally very good, if there is no retinal detachment, and there has not been a long delay (few weeks) before you had the treatment. The scarring induced by laser helps prevent retinal detachment. Retinal tears occur following posterior vitreous detachment, which gives symptoms of floaters and the jelly tends to be very mobile. Despite good laser, vision may be blurry due to the pigment released in the vitreous jelly (from the tear), which can induce further problems ie proliferative vitreo-retinopathy (PVR). Generally with early treatment things should settle within 6-8 weeks. Keep your follow-up appointments. Hope your eye settles quickly.

Hello,
It seems from the history that you have provided that you had a probably a retinal tear for which you had taken laser treatment.
The reason for hazy vision can be because of associated conditions like either inflammation of the vitreous or because of vitreous hemorrhage. For the same reason you have been told to wait for 3 weeks. If the vision wont clear up then you need to consult your eye doctor again.

Thank you
