Had Marked Adenomyosis. Swelled Uterus, No Bleeding. Physical Therapy Helps. Pressure In Rectum. Suggestions?

i am 10 days post op recovering from an unplanned hysterectomy- i had marked adenomyosis and a large fibroid that made the uterus swell-- no bleeding from these at all, but had 8 weeks of left leg lameness and eventually had episodes of feeling like I was in labor with pain to the point where I finally collapsed. I feel much better now- all the labor pains are gone, and physical therapy is helping the leg a lot. My question is that I now feel pain/pressure on the rectum at times and crampy pain just at the end of urinating. I am taking a stool softener, and having regular bm once a day, but when I have them I get dizzy. I am NOT pushing, as I have my legs elevated on a little bench. Stools are solid but not hard. Also, I am a fitness instructor and yoga teacher and am always doing little stretches to keep my back supple. Any problems with this? I might also add, that the hysterectomy was unplanned, as the ultrasound did not show anything, so when I collapsed, they thought it was an ovarian cyst. The ovaries were totally fine. So anyway, the hysterectomy happened without me having it on my radar screen, so I feel like I may have missed some pre op counseling along the way, and am trying to learn as much as I can now. Thanks!

Hello Nancyw,

Now your mental attitude to what has happened is important. You have a regret at the point of not undergoing a pre operative counselling. Since you know the chronology of what has happened, you have to teach your mind to forget what has happened. Now your health depends very much on the resolution of the psychological conflict you are suffering now. Otherwise the physical ailment you have now like the pain in the rectum, pain at the close of urination etc. will only get worse. They may lead you to more serious disease conditions also in future.

You can continue with more of stretching exercises. Take natural foods with more vegetables and fruits to soften your stool, thus avoiding drugs for it. Drink plenty of fluids.

If you are still not alright, I would confidently advise you to approach an expert Homoeopathic physician for your constitutional treatment.

If you can contact me with more details about YOU, your life situations, your physical and mental reactions to them etc., then I can prescribe for you your genetic constitutional remedy that will take care of your health for many more years to come.

Best wishes,

it appears as if you are suffering from collitis also. This is the real factor for your complaints. This can be the effect of medication also as normal flora gets disturbed. Regular meals and proper meals is a must. In ayurveda there is a herb called kutaj and another herb called punarnava. Kutaj is anti amoebic and other is anti inflammatory. Their combination offers good cure.

Hello Nancy,

Kindly mention your age and the medicines(if any) that you are currently taking.

I think you should have first tried with ayurveda medicines since they are extremely safe and do not cause any side effects although they may take some time to act. But anyways, since you have already undergone hysterectomy, now you just have to focus on helping your body cope up with the present situation.
Ayurveda (medicines & treatments) focus on getting your basic body metabolism back to normal. As you may already be aware that most of the diseases are cause just because of an impaired metabolism over the period of time. As far as your stretching goes, I think you must avoid activities that may cause strain to your body. At this point you must be concentrating more on giving your body some time to heal.
As far as the pressure is concerned, I advise you to take Triphala Choornam - 1 Tablespoon in 1 glass of lukewarm water, every night at bedtime (after dinner). Also drink adequate water. Have light food in time, avoid too much oily and spicy food, hard food - Roti, Paneer, Non-veg etc.
You may also apply Dhanwantaram Kuzambu to your entire body atleast thrice a week, let it stay for an hour before taking warm water bath.
It will surely help you. Revert back incase there is anything else.

1. pain/pressure in rectum after hysterectomy could be due to:
a. weakening of pelvic floor muscles
b. bowel drops from its natural position and comes down putting pressure on the rectum.
2. make sure your colo-rectal surgeon has ruled out rectocele as the cause.
3. make an appointment with a physiotherapist regarding Kegel Exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor (regarding pros and cons)
4. For Ayurveda medicine you can consult an Ayurveda Physician at your place for better management of disease.
