Had Medical Abortion Using Cytotec. Pregnancy Test Still Positive. Took Cytotec. What Is Wrong?
Hi doctor I really need your urgent help, I had a medical abortion using cytotec 200mg, I used only two and I bled just for that night and it was heavy with some clothing and I started feeling ok but after one week I was vomittin and having symptom so I took a urine test and it was positive so I took another 200mg cytotec this time I took 4 and I bled more than the last time and but it only lasted for the night wit heavy clothin in the morning and that was all, am confused now if am still pregnant bcause am feelin ok now but sometime I get little blood on my panties. Please help.
In failed medical abortion, it may take time to resolve completely. Incomplete abortion or retained bits have to ruled out which may cause more bleeding with clots and give positive result.
At this stage, you must consult with gynecologist for assessment of the abortion procedure. You need to undergo one USG scan to check for retained bits or tissue. In such case, D & C is required to complete the abortion procedure.

Before repeating cytotec, i suggest you to get a transvaginal USG done for retained products of conception. If the size is more than 15mm, you need to get D&C. If size is less than 15mm, nothing needs to be done. Vomiting is one of the side effects of cytotec. Hope this helps. regards, Dr Nilofer
