Had Painful Urination, Very Frequent, Bacterial Growth. On IM Injection. What Is Wrong? Serious?
I had sensational/painful urination but was frequent initially but subsided. I had my urine analyzed the first time but there was no bacteria growth after 48hrs but there was mild presence of RBC but numerous WBC. I was administered antibiotic IM Injection for 7 days and i still have symptoms so i used Cefadoxime(oral,10 tabs) after which i had to do another urine analysis, still no bacteria growth is noticed after 48hrs, no RBC but now 5-10 WBC. The lab analyst said intake of alcohol can inhibit bacteria growth. I am due for another urine test in 1week. this time no alcohol. What do you think is wrong with me,is it serious or mild?
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have chronic UTI. Your first urine analysis revealed plenty of WBC (Pus Cells) which got reduced to 5-6 on second urine analysis. This suggest that your UTI is getting under control with antibiotics. Please continue to take antibiotics along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily .Ensure to drink more water. Do not worry it will get cured within 10 more days. Dr.Patil.
