Had Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome. Starting Physiotherapy. What Kind Of Therapy Would Be Given?
i have had patellofemoral pain syndrome for the past 2 years. i am a 14 year old female and am starting physio next week. my doctor told me to sit out of all sports and physical activity for the time being.i play ice hockey, fastpitch, and do pe at school. what can i expect for treatment from physio? what happens if this doesnt help?
The main part of the physiotherapy program for patellofemoral pain involves the Quadriceps muscle strengthening exercises.
You not supposed to involve in any Impact sports and deep knee bending activities as these will aggravate your pain.
Generally, upto 60% of the patients with patellofemoral pain will benefit from Physiotherapy. If physiotherapy is not going to help you, based on the amount of involvement of the articular surfaces, you may need some form of surgical intervention which will be decided by your treating surgeon.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
