Had Total Hysterectomy. Performed By A Robotic DaVinci Procedure. Experiencing Discomfort, Bloating And Soreness. Is This Normal?

I am 24 weeks out from a total hysterectomy that removed both ovaries, uterus, tubes, and cervix. I also had endometrial growth removed from a long stretch of my bowels, off my kidneys, and off my bladder. All of this was performed by a Robotic DaVinci procedure. I am still experiencing discomfort, bloating, and an overall soreness across my abdominal section where some of the top probes are placed. Wearing bottoms that zip and button make me very uncomfortable and nauseous. Is this normal...have I done something wrong?

Hello madam!
i read your query and i want to assure you that complaints you are mentioned are very common after surgical interventions. The bloating and distension and soreness is all explained because the anesthesia drugs and stress itself of a surgical procedure is strong enough to distub the normal motility (MMCs Migrating Myoelectric Complexes) of gut and it takes time to get back to normal but you mentioned 24 weeks post surgery thats almost a half year and i believe by this time your these issues shuld have been resolved.
I would advise to see a gastro enterologist to assess the gut functions and to rule out any procedure related complication as you mentioned yourself it had some mass involving your gut which was removed.

Mean while you can take some prokinetic drugs like metoclopromide or proclorperazine and lactulose syrups for your symptoms.
Hope i was of help. Take care of yourself and lose weight as obesity is a notorious factor for post operative morbidities

Regards
Dr Khan
