Hard, Huge Painful Bruise On Leg. History Of Pulmonary Blood Clots Due To Bruise On Leg From Surgery. Serious?

I had 6 pulmonary blood clots late in 2009. They indicated cause could have been from a fall that resulted in a huge bruise on my leg or from surgery that I had 6 months prior. Well today I hit my leg very hard and have a huge, bulging, painful bruise on my right leg. Should I be concerned? I am 40 years old female.

If you had a history of blood clots in the past you would be at increased risk for blood clots in the future. So you may want to see your PMD to see if would want to do any prophylactic treatment or serial prospective surveillance.
