Has Fibrosis Of Lungs, Diagnosed With Candida, Fungal Infection Of Mouth, WBC And Liver Count Was Abnormal, Inflammation Of Lymph Nodes. Explain
Hello doctor my father is having fibrosis of lungs since past one year and for this he was taking steroids. before 3 weeks he was diagnosed with candida (fungal infection of mouth) and he developed high grade fever after using all the antibiotics there was no relief infact because of antibiotics lever got infected. WBC was also low. Now WBC and Lever counts have settled and in city scan of lowe jaw and neck inflammation of lympho nodes is diagnosed in the mucous as he was having pain in eating and swallowing. Now fungal infection has also healed very much. Doctors are suspecting tuberclosis of lymh nodes and have started medicines of tuberclosis since past one week. Now there is only one problem that he still gets fever if Nemulid is not given twice a day. so i just wanted to get a second opinion from you on this.
Hi, Thanks for visiting HCM. I Have gone through your complaint and concluded that it would have been better to go for Fine needle aspiration cytology of neck nodes before instituting anti -tubercular therapy. You can go for it now also. A raised ESR and positive montoux test also suggests the tuberculosis. Your doctor is not wrong as the treatment can be started empirically on strong suspicion. If it is tuberculosis, may take a couple of weeks or month for the drugs to have their all effect, so continue your treatment along with other supportive treatment. You can also go for testing of HIV status of the patient....
Best wishes
