Has Frequent Urinary Yeast Infections. Prescribed Dyflocan. Got Nuerogenic Bladder, Can Held Urine For Hours. Should Catheterize Him?
my son has frequent urinary yeast infections and was diagnosed today and 1 dose of dyflocan was given. He has not urinated all day. My son has a nuerogenic bladder also. He has held it for up to 17 hours before going before, but it is about 18 hours now and is a sleep right now. Should I wake and catherize him how at 3 am>
Since your son has frequent urinary yeast infections, he has probably required multiple round of antibiotics in the past for UTI which predisposes him to have yeast infections. The best way to prevent that is to catheterize him regularly atleast every 6-8 hourly to prevent him from getting frequent UTIs and also to practice best hygiene practices while catheterizing him.
I would suggest you should go ahead and catheterize him. You can plan your timing of catheterization every 8 hrs at times when he is awake.
Hope this helps.
