Has Wound On Tongue And Skin Has Come Off. Tongue Is Swollen. What To Do?
My uncle has a piece of his tongue out while eating... wound being 1 cm tear and the skin has come off. It started one n a half hrs back. He is on a low dose aspirin too.. does he need a stitch or just ice? The tongue is swollen and the piece has come out from the center. We tried intermittent compression and ice. What do we do?
You did the right thing with intermittent compression and ice application. Is it bleeding profusely or has it stopped.
If it is bleeding profusely, he needs to visit a doctor.
If it is a small wound and the bleeding has stopped, don't worry about it , it will heal on its own. Right now , he can suck an ice cube or so.
Avoid salty and spicy food for a couple of days.
Have a liquid or semi solid diet ,that is easy to swallow.
After 1 day or so , do warm saline gargles three times a day OR listerine mouth wash twice a day .
Do get back to me for further clarifications.
Wishing your uncle a speedy recovery .
