Have Ankylosing Spondylitis, Taking Enbrel, Hurts A Lot. Should I Stop Medication? Solution?

O.K. I an 14 and have Ankylosing spondylitis(big words). I have been taking Enbrel for the last 10 months, one a week. It started out painless but then suddenly, every week it would hurt- A LOT. Sometimes it takes 5 seconds others 15, sometimes I'm running to the bathroom with blood running down my leg and others I don't feel. More recently I had an extreme burning and my skin was raised and deep red, the worst was when air bubbles and medicine came spraying out.OW!!! Should I stop! What do I do!

hello mate!
i can understand your trouble. it is a very painful condition. You should know this disease has a modifying treatment not a curative one. as you already are on etanercept(TNF-alpha) antagonists, you can add some NSAIDs and short term use of steroids like deltacortil, sulfasalazine is also an option.
but mostly you will have to figh twith it by excercises, physiotherapies, vocational therapies, recreational therapies. you will need a diet modification too if your Bowel is involved too like IBS.
Have a regular follow ups for other than bone pains( extra articular manifestation) regular check up your eyes, neurologic exams, aorta, conduction defects, amyloidosis etc. do follow ups ESRs and CRPs

BASDAI = Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index
BASFI = Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index
BASMI = Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index
BAS-G = Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis patient Global score
m-SASSS = Modified Stoke Ankylosing Spondylitis Spinal Score
ASQoL = AS Quality of Life Instruments

aboe ar some questioniers which will help you know where you stand regarding the disease of severity. you should learn and know about your disease study about it etc.
keep an erect posture during daily activities. sleep on a firm mattress with thin pillow underneath.
surgical options are there too for intolerable fusions of bones but lets hope it doesnt come to that.
