Hello, karenwadd,
As you already aware , I am sure , you know there is no cure for
Crohn's disease as of today. Lot of research is being done to find out
the exact cause , although there are lots of theories. Until we find
out there is no cure. But there are very effective drugs that can control
your symtoms and also help heal the ulcers and other complications
such as fistula , bleeding etc.
You don't mention about being on any maintenance medications you
were put on after surgery. Usually drugs like 6-MP or Immuran are
used to prevent recurrent disease.
Right now it appears like you have recurrent Crohn's with bleeding.
Usually Crohn's comes back at the site of resection. If part of your
end of
small intestine and the right
colon is removed , now you have
that part of the colon attached to the small bowel is the area affected.
You need to have a good re-evaluation by the gastroenterologist.
He will perform a colonscopy and
biopsy and see how extensive the
involvement is. You could be started on a Biological drug called Infliximab
or
Remicade IV infusions at regular intervals to get Crohn's under remission.
Please talk to your doctor about these.
I wish you the very best.
