Have SPA. Is Salfasalazine, Methotrexate The Only Drug Of Choice?
Hi im detected with spA .i am 30 yrs old. I want 2 know salfasalazine, methotrexate is only the drug of choice? These r immunocompressive drug.what will b the side effects of using these drugs? How long it requires to he ankylosed? Is everyone. Being ankylosed? What can compensate my pain? Any exercise ? What will. B the fate Dr?
hi, there are plenty of other drugs like higher NSAID s like indomethacin, naproxen, sulindac, diclofenac which can be tried initially. which will take off the pain. For some people these drugs may not be useful, then immunosuppresive drugs are used. if still it is not under control, then there are some other drugs inflicimab, etanercept. even physiotherapy will also be useful. prognosis depends on site of involvement and severity of its manifestations. The prognosis is best for those who maintain close monitoring with the treating doctors and who incorporate physical activities designed to maintain mobility. Quitting smoking is essential for the best long-term outcome. for more information log on to http://www.arthritis.org/.
