Have Abnormal PSA Level. Chances Of Prostate Cancer?
My name is Brenda and I just found out my fiance s PSA was at 30, and after taking medication to see if it would lower it, it went to 32. How likely is his chances that he has prostate cancer? They are preparing to do a CAT scan of his mid-section and a test of his bones. Does this mean they are checking to see if the possible cancer has spread?
Usually the Prostate Specific Antigen level is less than 4 ng/ml. Levels higher than 10 ng/ml merit screening for prostate cancer. That is why, all those investigations have been suggested for your fiance. However, there is still a possibility that he doesn't have cancer because many times, the PSA result can be false positive. Prostate infections can also raise the PSA level. So please do not worry and wait for the results of the investigations.
Hope everything turns out fine. Best wishes.
