Have Abnormal Blood Pressure, Baker S Cyst On Knee, Pain, Swelling. Taking Acetaminophen. Need For Doctor?
I am 73 years old and have never had blood pressure out of the normal range. On 7/19/2013 at my doctor's office the reading before my physical was 176/71 and at the end of the appt. 168/74. It would always register high before the appt. and then register normal at the end. I had it taken at a friend's this afternoon where it registered 185/98/80 on the left arm and 190/92/70 on the right arm using a digital readout type. At my niece's (who is an RN/Nurse Supervisor) right after the two above readings, it was 170/92 using her cuff that you pump up and a stethoscope. I am currently dealing with a Baker's Cyst on my left knee and have had a bit of pain and swelling, taking 2-500mg acetaminophen once or twice a day for approximately two weeks. Should I see my doctor regarding my blood pressure reading?
Yes, you should / see a doctor This level of pressure needs basic investigations and treatment. White Coat Hypertension / Reaction to pain may be contributing – but it should be an exclusion diagnosis. Better be treated than be guessing...
