Have An E Coli Infection In Eyelids, Prescribed Chloramphenicol, Got Allergic Reaction, Eyes Swollen, Bloodshot. Cure?
I have an e coli infection in my eyelids. My doctor prescribed an antibiotic ointment called chloramphenicol but I had an allergic reaction to this-my eyes became swollen, eyes were bloodshot so I discontinued use of same. I have much discomfort for over a year. Initially I was being treated for blepharitis and the e coli was only diagnosed over a week ago when a swab from the eye was analysed. Is there anything I can do to cure this?
Hello, It seems from the history that you are having blepharitis for which you are on treatment. The treatment for blepharitis usually takes long time. Along with the prescribed treatment you need to do lid scrubs by washing the lid margins daily atleast once and this will help you to get relief from the symptoms early.
Since you had an allergic reaction to chloramphenicol stop the drug and it can be replaced by some other antibiotic advice as per the advice of your doctor.
Thank you
