Have Been Unable To Identity Words Since All Sound The Same

I am a sign language interepreter and I am noticing that I am able to hear but not able to identify words. especially accroynms, and words that rhym like cat, bat, hat..they all sound the same. I have a hard time hearing on the phone even with people that I talk with frequencly and have to use ear phones when I do talk on the phone. There can be no background noise or I can not understand anything. In person, is normally fine. Should I bother going to the doctor or is this just an annoying issue?

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
You did not mentioned that, are you normal person or having hearing loss, if you are normal person and your job is interpreting the sing language and then later you developed such problem, then I could say that this is the occupational hazard, (May be) in my opinion you have to see the psychologist for better opinion along with that better to have opinion from ENT also, I hope this could be helpful for you, take care and have nice day.
