Have Bicornuate Uterus, Back Pain, Leg Cramps, Green Discharge. Scan Shows Blood Clot. Worried
Hello Doctor, I am 14 weeks pregnant and this is my second pregnancy. My first pregnancy was full term and normal delivery. Baby weighed 3.45 grm at birth. This was 4 years back. I had taken Betnasol injections etc...though the reason was not clearly stated. she mentioned it had to do with my low hormone levels. Now, for this pregnancy, I am told I have a bircornuate uterus (I an hearing this for first time). I am not under any specific medications. I get backpain and associate leg cramps, had greenish discharge at the time of pain. Scan revealed that I have a minor blood clot and also that there is an accessory placental tissue leading upto OS though the fundal one is high up.
My worry is my doctor (its a different doctor from last time) has not put me on any extra medication. I am worried if I was given those injections first time because the doctor knew about this uterus anomaly?should I be consulting a specialist? Can you please advice?

Hi,
Based on the information you were give Betnasol (steroid) during first pregnancy) and have no clue why you were given that , answer to that question is their may be changes of having preterm baby (immature lungs to develop before the birth).
Now about that drug is not given to you currently is , mostly the Betnasol (steroid) is given around 6-7 months of pregnancy in case of having high chances of preterm baby ( baby born before- 9 months). You are still at 14 weeks so its to early to have it in case you were suppose to have a preterm baby, if no chances to have preterm baby you may not need the Betnasol this time.
Bicornuate uterus is like having a partition in uterus, something similar to have a room split into two part. Which in turn has less space then normal uterus, so having a less space for baby to grow in you kind of uterus.
Small space inside uterus increase chances to have baby early then term i.e preterm baby, for which you were given injection of steroid in first pregnancy to have babies lungs functional at 7 months which normally happens inside mother's womb naturally at 8-1/2 months of intra uterine age.
Nothing to worry please follow up with your doctor he will take care of it.
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. You should consult an expert gynaecologist for your problem and continue your pregnancy in her supervision. You should take proper rest, medication and healthy diet. Bicornuate uterus is an anomaly in which uterus has septum so chances of abortion are high. Good luck. Regards Dr. Richa
