Hello
Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.
I have gone through your query regarding recurrent tonsilar infection, as you said that your right tonsil is bigger than left one.
No doubt you are having
chronic tonsillitis, as far as right tonsils size is concern it may be associated with
cyst or asymetrical hypertrophy.
As for as treatment is concerned we can follow conservative treatment or surgery. There is a guideline for deciding the modalities of treatment. Surgery is indicated if there is-
(a) More than 4 episodes of tonsillitis in a year.
(b) If tonsillitis is associated with
cervical lymphadenopathy.
(c) Tonsil is having cyst/ stone.
(d) Whenever there is history of paratonsilar
abscess.
(e) Culture and sensitivity of throat swab is positive for staph infection.
(f) Tonsillitis with growth.
(g) When tonsillar size is too large that right and left tonsils touches eachother (kissing tonsil).
This is the list of indications so after thorough examination one can decide your line of treatment.
Regards.
