It actually depends upon what symptoms she is having presently. In Autism the child is usually poor in language, poor in communication with others, poor social behavior and usually stereotyped repetitive behavior. In more than 50% of such patients Mental Retardation is also seen.
While Aspergers show similar symptoms but usually language development is normal.
Bipolar disorder in children usually present with maniac symptoms. Temper tantrums, anger outbursts, criminal behavior are main symptoms apart from typical symptoms.
But for proper diagnosis please visit your Psychiatrist.
Hi there, thanks for asking. It is a good question. In children and adolescents, comorbidity (having more than one diagnosis) is seen frequently. Furthermore, autism and asperger are often diagnosed together and they both are parts of the same spectrum. Many people with autism find mood problem which could be depression or bipolar mood disorder. However, many diagnosis change over time until a person reach 18 years old. Their management is not difficult as well. I wish her a good health.
