Have Bowed Legs. Thin Cartilege On Insides Of Both Knees. On Supplements, Protein Intake For Stimulating Growth. Suggest Surgeon To Straighten Legs

I've had bowed legs since age 13, when I grew too fast. Now at 64, my knee cartiledge is very thin on the insides of both knees. Where is a good place to start looking for a surgeon who can straighten my legs? I've been taking supplements and protein to stimulate cartiledge growth and I think it is helping, but I have to modify my knee braces to fit my curved legs.

Hi,
If you are elderly then there is possibility of having Peri-artheritis of shoulder joint.
In this condition physiotherapy will be of much helpful.
Steroid injection in the joint will give good relief.
Meanwhile take NSAID medicine to get temporary relief from pain.
Ok and take care.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Gaurang's  Response
Hi
First of all you need to know is it femur or tibia which is causing bowing.
Next at the age of 64 it is most probably due to knee joint arthritic changes.
You can go for knee joint replacement surgery which will correct bowing of your legs. The other surgery is osteotomy but at this stage i dont think it is advisable.
Please consult ortheopaedic surgeon and joint replacement surgeon.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
