A brown discharge is usually the sign of a beginning period or one which is ending. These are both considered normal occurences. But if abnormal, they are seen with infections, a miscarriage and hormonal imbalances.
As you have experienced the discharge for almost 5 days, this could either have been your period itself (normal), a miscarriage or a hormonal imbalance.
Is this the first time you are experiencing an irregular menstrual cycle? If yes, then you will have to visit the doctors; but if you have experienced an irregular cycle previously, then you may wait it out for a bit. As this is not a 2-way consultation, it is difficult to advise further, without getting more information from you.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
