Have Bunions, Arthritis. Painful. Afraid Of Recovery Time
I have had bunions on both feet for many years, as well as arthritis in my left foot . Now in my late 50 s, both of my feet have the second toe out of the knuckle. On my right foot, the second toe sits on top of the big toe. My left foot is more severe as the second toe is up and over the third toe. I ve seen a surgeon who recommends surgery. I never knew that a toe could be pushed out of the knuckle. It is very painful. I am afraid of the recovery time and how long I will have to be off of my feet before I can return to work.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hi and welcome to HCM
Bunions initially managed conservatively by shoes modification and pads. But if the deformity is severe surgery is advisable. Do not worry , go for surgery as advised by your doctor. It might take 2-3 months for recovery and return to your work.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
