Have Constipation. Taking Metamucil And Glycerine. Done Colonoscopy. COntinue Medication?
I had a colonoscopy 3 weeks ago and since them i am constipated
Colonoscopy was fine
I have been trying Metamucil ,but does not help too much
The quantity is very small ,and I need a lot of paper to clean
It seems that its stays inside
The only think working is Glycerine suppository
What else can I take
My e-mail is YYYY@YYYY
thanks Doctor
Three weeks is a rather long time for constipation to persist following colonscopy. As laxatives are not working and the stool quantity is less I suggest that you increase the roughage in your diet by taking more of green leafy vegetables, whole fruits, non-refined flour, prunes, etc. This shall provide more bulk to your stool and help you clean your bowel. Kindly increase the fluid intake which shall improve your bowel movement further. You may like to go through my article on high fibre diet and constipation at http://goo.gl/zRm1Q.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
Wishing you all the best.
