Have Constipation, Heaviness In Abdomen, Sticky Stool And Less Bowel Movement. How To Overcome This?

I am fifty years old and having incomplete evacution or constipation for last 8 years. some one suggested that i might be gluten sensitive there by started having gluten free diet for past 6 months. Bowel movement was much better during this period but now for past 10 days i am having sticky stool , very little bowel movement, heavyness in the abodomen. my life is miserable again. i do not know what to do.

Hi,

To overcome your constipation, I suggest to:

- drink more water : makes your stool less sticky
- take lactulose and sena supplements : to ease bowel movement
- you can take malabsorption tests to determine that you have gluten intolerance
- have your meals regularly
- eat more foods high in fiber
- do more exercise

If no progress, should consult GI specialist to further evaluate if you have organic problems (slowing down of intestinal movements) or it is because of diet.
