Dear Doctor, my daughter is 38 months old and ever since she has been going to school, she has had cold/sneezing/stuffy nose which quickly morphs into cough with acute wheezing, at a frequency of once in 4 months . Its worrisome and I do not know if it is because of weather or rapid season changing. The wheezing thing is a bit new for the last 4-5 months and it makes her cough all the time. From the last month we are giving her singulair + allerid as anti-allergy presscribed by doctor
The first time around the doctor whom we consulted gave him asthalin(5ml) along with T-minic syrups for 5 days and it subsided. The second time around wheezing became more persistentan, he said there might be a case of infection and has prescribed Amoxicilin along with Asthalin and T-Mimic and also Duolin Nebulizer for 7-10 days.
My questions are:
1. Are these medicines, especially Asthalin Asthalin& budecot(nebulizer),montelequast sodium tablets amoxycylin, and Duolin too strong or are they safe and given for kids of such age and such problems usually?
2. How to prevent frequent recurrence of wheezing related coughs? Is wheezing happening because of the common cold? Is cold and phlegm acting as the trigger for wheezing by blocking airways?
