Have Delay In Periods And Soreness In Breast

I am soon to be 21. I have always been super lucky with my periods. Every 28 days I bleed for 2 days, and that's my MC. Longest period I've ever had was five days and that was after a miscarriage a few years ago. Well I haven't had a period since December, 2013. And that was more like spotting. One time using the restroom during Christmas eve, and it was done. pregnancy tests have been negative. Until recently (about a week and a half ago) I did get one positive test. I went to see my doctor and she tried telling me "not having periods is normal". And that she refused to give a blood test for HCG or explain anything else. I'm frustrated because she thinks its so normal, but I know my body. And have been on BC since starting my MC in junior high. Not having a period is just NOT normal for me. And my fear is that either I indeed am pregnant, or there is something else wrong with my body. My breasts, especially my nipples, are extremely sore. My lower abdomen/ uterus area is swollen and firm, I am always feeling sick, and all in all I just want to know whats wrong with me. Can anyone help?

Hello,
I think I can help you. Tender breasts and missing your period are certainly signs of pregnancy. I see that you have been very regular and that it is quite unusual for you to miss your period. That fact that you had a positive pregnancy test is also very telling. Sometimes you can have negative urine pregnancy tests because the level is not yet high enough.
I think it is very important that you receive a proper work-up with a blood sample and perhaps a ultrasound of your uterus to see what is going on as well. You are absolutely right to be concerned about missing your period when you have been so regular in the past. It is important to rule out pregnancy, especially since you are feeling sick. I would suggest that you seek help from a different physician and get tested. I hope this helps.
