Have Diabetes. What Could Be The Reason For Clear Liquid Leakage From Anus After Quitting Alcohol?

I ve been having some liquid leakage from my anus. It appears to be clear and doesn t have a strong fecal odor. Been leaking through my underwear into my pants. Been rolling up tissues to help soak it up. Started about 5 days ago...big dietary change was giving up alcohol 2 weeks ago, which I drank 5-6 nights a week. I am a Type 2 diabetic for 2 years, and have been trying to eat higher protein lower carb meals. Have had a few candy/ice cream bars lately as I crave the sugar.

Hi,

Testing the stool for parasites can be considered. Also, looking at the anal area to rule out pinworms should also be done.

Malabsorption can be evaluated by sending the stool off for fat analysis, as well as blood tests looking for celiac disease. Various breath tests can be done to look for bacterial overgrowth or lactose intolerance - all which can contribute to your symptoms.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician, or in conjunction with a GI physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
