Have Diarrhea, Taking Lansoprazole. Is Lansoprazole Causing Diarrhea? Can I Take Tylenol?

I started taking Lansoprazole 30MG a week ago and I now have diarrhea for almost a whole day. I also take a calcium plus vitamin D tablet that has Magnesium. Do you think this caused the darrhea? Can I take tylenol to stop the cramps and get feeling better.

Hi. Welcome to HCM. Lansoprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn and difficulty in swallowing. It may increase your risk for bone fractures, especially with longer use, higher doses, and in older adults. May be for this reason your doc has advised u calcium and vitamin D tabs, which is good. Some common sideeffects of lansoprazole are are diarrhea, abdominal pain and headache. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor promptly. Tylenol contains acetaminophen and is used to treat mild to moderate pain (from headaches, menstrual periods, toothaches, backaches, osteoarthritis, or cold/flu aches and pains) and to reduce fever. This drug is less likely to give u relief from your crampy pain. I would suggest u to consult your doctor if diarrhea and cramps persists. Wish u good health
