Have been having a deep barking cough, sometimes dry sometimes phlemy. I go into deep fits which have even made me throw up. I have some pain next to my Adams apple, left side., is it a lymph node? It's also where I get the urge to cough. Cold started 2 weeks ago, went away them came back with extreme sore throat n completely lost my voice then went to coughing fits for last 5 days. I started taking cough medicine but dosent seem to work that well. Also have sore mouth/ gums.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post suggest that you might be having Allergic tracheo-bronchitis. Examination of the throat using a laryngoscope and X ray of the chest will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.
Management includes: 1. Antihistamine preparations like Allegra & Cough expectorant syrup for symptomatic relief. 2. Montelukast preparation at night as a maintenance therapy. 3. A course of antibiotics may be taken to prevent secondary bacterial attack. 4. Maintain adequate hydration & take a healthy balance diet. 5. Also make sure that you are well protected from cold, dust & other allergens.
Wishing you a good health. Take care.
