Endometriosis is a painful condition charecterised by painful periods & failure to conceive. It is common in reproductive age group. It occurs in 6 to 10 % of women.
Continuous treatment with the female hormone progesterone for a period of 6 months is effective in controlling the symptoms.
Duphaston is Dihydrogesterone, a syntheyic progesterone used in the treatment of endometriosis. The proliferation & bleeding of uterine endometrial cells that are present both inside & outside the uterus is prevented by this drug.
Irregular periods is a common problem in endometriosis & hence don't worry.Since your pain is unbearable, you can take Duphaston 10 mg, once a day for 5 days. You will get your periods within a week after stopping Duphaston. Pl consult your Dr. once she comes back from vacation, for further course of treatment.
