Have Food Pipe Through Nose. Have Throat Infection. Should Pipe Be Placed In Stomach?

Hi, My mom got a food pipe through nose for past 25days, now got some infection on throat n all ( after changing the pipe on time) So now Doc is saying to go for food pipe into the stomac make a small sergerry .... Her age is 80 n one side paralyzed ... Pls advise... As I m scared of stomach infection and Alll Thnkx Nakshatra m

I have gone through your query regarding operation for feeding tube in your mother as at present she is on Ryle's tube feeding.
Since your mother is 80 years old and is hemiplegic and she is getting feeding by Ryle's tube , but during change of tube problem arise for reinserting tube up to stomach. You have not clear about problem in food pipe for which external gastrostomy is adviced.
If your mother has some obstructive lesion in esophagus than it (gastrostomy) is recomonded.
This is an small operation for better nourishment to patient.
