Have Headaches And Swelling On Forehead Which Is Itching And Irritating. What Does It Indicate?
hi, i am 4rm mumbai...i develop swelling time and again on my fore head, mostly ..that appear suddenly and disapper on thr own in few days..this started last year..they are like bumps that occur on face(sometimes above my upper lips, and most of the time on my forhead)..the bump grows into larger swelling covering the entire forehead and thr is slight itching sensation and irritation..i also quite often get headaches..the swelling keeps shifting from one part to other on my forhead and sometimes even goes up my scalp...pls helppp..what is this weird thing
This seems to be due to Angioedema. It may or may not be associated with urticaria. Its very similar to urticaria/Hives except that it is deeper in the subcutaneous tissue and it might involve larynx and GI tract as well giving rise to syptoms of choking, difficulty in breathing, abdominal pain etc.
I would advice that you visit a dermatologist. He might ask you to get a few blood tests done esp. for 'hereditary angioedema' to rule it out.
Treatment except for herediitary angioedema is mostly same as Urticaria and usually an oral anti histamine like cetrizine is good enough.
